Design Facilitation for Google
Civilla lead a 3-day human centered design workshop for 30 Google employees from around the world. As a part of this workshop, Civllla looped Google employees in on a design project for The Detroit Fire Department. The project consisted of redesigning the first responders’ communications systems that are utilized in the City of Detroit. At the time of this workshop, DFD communications systems housed multiple programs that did not speak to each other, making information transfer inefficient in situations that warranted accurate and speedy communications.

User Research
I lead one of the Google teams on an ethnographic user interview with an Emergency Medical Services Administrator. I coached them through their interview and then facilitated the unpacking of the information obtained by leading the team in creating a system map of all the communications pathways that information flowed amongst first responders, from dispatcher to emergency response team.
Insights & Ideation
From the information gathered, I helped Google employees draw out point of views, synthesize design insights, and constructed "How Might We" statements in order to encourage wild ideation.
Storytelling
I co-facilitated a storytelling workshop, teaching Google employees story design methods. This workshop had Google teams pivoting strategies in presenting their prototypes to the Detroit Fire Commissioner. All of the Google teams housed their prototypes in story, making it easier for representatives of The Detroit Fire Department to understand the potential of the prototypes created. Google is now working with The Detroit Fire Department on developing some of the prototypes created in the workshop in order to make them ready to be put into the hands of first responders in Detroit.
